jjBUYER-SELLER AGREEMENT PART II
Requirements to maintain the lifetime guarantee on said puppy for genetic hip and heart problems. No exceptions.
We, both Lisa and Jerilynn of LJ's Danehill, LLC (Sellers), feel that there are several important issues concerning the health and welfare of your Great Dane. We have discussed the information with you, but we feel that it needs to be stated and acknowledged by all parties. This information is important and should be followed for the best interest of your Great Dane.
1. The first important issue is the feeding of your Great Dane. Always feed a food of 23% protein or less. This eliminates all puppy foods, including the large breed formulas. Your puppy will come to you eating an adult dog food. The principle behind this is to allow for a slower growth rate which allows bones, cartilage, etc. to grow at a even rate. This slower, even growth will not affect the size of your Great Dane at all. Basically, it helps to eliminate any hip or joint problems in the future caused by nutrition. Failure to comply with this could endanger your Great Dane as they get older.
2. The second important issue is whether to crop the puppy's ear or not. We do not recommend that you have the ears cropped. This is due to the complications that can occur during surgery, and could result in the death of said puppy. If you do decide to have the ears cropped PLEASE SCREEN YOUR VET. They must have a thorough understanding of the breed. Also make sure that they are aware of possible problems that can occur during anesthesia with Great Danes. A helpful website is www.doglogic.com Go into the health section and read the information on anesthesia and Great Danes, and the section on how to screen your vet. These articles are very informative to you as a new Great Dane owner. LJ's Danehill, LLC (Seller's) consider this to be an elective, cosmetic surgery and is not liable for any deaths from ear cropping.
3. The third important issue is the spay and neuter section of our contract that goes with the Limited AKC Registration. This is a requirement for all pups with Limited AKC Registration, no exceptions. The problem occurs as to when is the appropriate age to have the surgery done. The spay of a female must occur between 6-9 months of age. The neutering of a male must NOT be done prior to 1.5 years of age. Proof from your veterinarian of spay/neuter surgery must be sent to LJ's Danehill. LLC (Seller) by certified mail. Failure to have the surgery at the appropriate age per gender, or not to send proof to Seller(s) voids all guarantees for said Great Dane. By signing this contract, you agree that if you register a LJ's Danehill, LLC Great Dane with Limited AKC Registration with another kennel club and your Great Dane is used for breeding, a penalty of five thousand dollars ($5,000usd) per such unauthorized registration and breeding shall be imposed upon you, and such penalty shall be payable by you upon demand to LJ's Danehill, LLC. Should such unauthorized registration and breeding of the said Great Dane result in a litter, you agree you shall pay a penalty of two thousand dollars ($2,000usd) per unauthorized puppy payable by you upon demand to LJ's Danehill, LLC.
4. Finally, the issue of staying in contact. Contact from the Buyer(s) to the Seller(s) every six months on the welfare of said Great Dane is required for the life of said Great Dane. This allows LJ's Danehill, LLC (Seller's) to be aware of conditions concerning said Great Dane. Contact is to be by either email or mail, which allows Seller's to place proof of contact into your file. Failure to maintain contact with LJ's Danehill, LLC (Sellers) voids all guarantees on said Great Dane.
THIS AGREEMENT CONSTITUTES THE ENTIRE UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE PARTIES. NO VARIATIONS IN SAID AGREEMENT SHALL OCCUR EXCEPT AS IS MUTUALLY AGREEABLE AND IN WRITING BETWEEN THE PARTIES. THESE ISSUES HAVE BEEN DISCUSSED AND ARE HEREBY MUTUALLY AGREED UPON ON THE _________ DAY OF ________________, 20___.
